Exercise and Singing

The most common New Years Resolution is to lose weight.

If you want to be a good singer, being a rock hard god(ess) is not really necessary, but having strong abdominal and chest muscles is.

When im working out regularly, I spend at least half my exercise time working on my back and chest muscles. The reason for this is to improve my breathing ability and it also helps with hitting better bass notes.

Getting your Abdominals into good shape can be a challenge without the right guide. I use a program I found Online that taught me everything I needed to know about getting good, strong abs.

Back and upper chest exercises are supplemental to ab workouts, so that follows suit.

I also sing along to songs between each set of exercises.

I also recommend a diet plan.

The one I use is a full diet and exercise plan, that works with your body to help you lose weight, rather than just following a “one size fits all” type plan that wont work for everyone.

Everyone has a different metabolism, and body type. Im just a big dude. I can workout all the time, and eat nothing but the healthiest food, and I will still be a big guy.

Everyone is different, so why would one general weight loss plan work for everyone.

Singing requires freedom of movement for your torso muscles, if you have 30 or 40 pounds of fat hanging off your torso, it drags on your muscles and hurts your singing ability.

People that play an instrument have to strengthen parts of their bodies to play properly, do you think singing is any different?

If you are serious about singing, I suggest getting into better shape.

I intend to get back on track with my weight loss, and get back to being able to sing some of the songs ive lost the muscle freedom to do properly. That is one of my new years resolutions.
